Behavior modification

Solved at the root.

Seth specializes in complex behavior issues including anxiety, reactivity and aggression. With a deep understanding of canine psychology, he goes beyond basic obedience to address the cause of your dog’s challenges.

How it works

Past the command to what’s driving it. Then calm, neutral behavior around dogs, people and real distractions.

Most behavior problems are a state of mind before they are a behavior. A dog that lunges, guards, panics or bolts is over threshold: too aroused, too frustrated or too worried to think. Correcting the symptom alone does nothing about the state that produced it.

Seth builds the foundation those dogs are missing first: a structured heel, a reliable place command and real impulse control. Then the triggers are introduced on purpose, at a distance the dog can handle, in real places. Calm is rewarded and rehearsed until it becomes the default.

Because your dog lives in Seth’s home, that happens every day for weeks, not once a week. The go-home session teaches you the handling, and the follow-up lessons make sure it holds.

Real-world exposure

Field trips are part of the program.

Calm, neutral behavior around dogs, people and real-world distractions is built in public, on purpose. Structured heel work, reliable stays, field trips and public exposure are all in the Platinum and VIP programs.

Seth’s background growing up on a farm training Quarter Horses gives him a unique perspective on working animals, structure and communication, especially with high-drive and working breeds.

Questions

About behavior work.

Can you help with reactivity, anxiety or aggression?

That’s Seth’s specialty. Behavior modification, including impulse control, reactivity and aggression, is built into the Platinum and VIP programs. Start with the free phone assessment so Seth can hear what’s happening and recommend the right length.

What training methods do you use?

A balanced approach: clear communication, rewards for the behavior we want, and fair, consistent boundaries for the behavior we don’t. Every dog gets a customized plan. The VIP program includes a Mini-Educator e-collar for reliable off-leash communication; Seth explains exactly how tools are introduced and used on your free call.

Can private lessons handle reactivity or aggression?

Private lessons can address reactivity and anxiety and are ideal for coaching you as a handler. For serious reactivity or aggression, the daily repetition of a Platinum or VIP board and train produces the most reliable change, followed by lessons to transfer it to you.
