The basics
Where does my dog stay during a board and train?
In Seth’s home in Cypress, not a warehouse or kennel. That in-home environment is the point: real-world training in everyday settings, so the results transfer to your home.
Who actually trains my dog?
Seth Purdom, personally. Over 16 years of hands-on experience and more than 900 dogs trained. Best Dog University keeps a limited number of dogs at a time so every program stays customized.
Will I hear from you while my dog is away?
Yes. Professional photo and video updates go out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so you see the progress as it happens.
What happens when the program ends?
A go-home session where you’re shown exactly how to maintain and build on the results. After that, follow-up lessons and lifetime support. Platinum includes unlimited private lessons; VIP includes unlimited in-home lessons.
Can you help with reactivity, anxiety or aggression?
That’s Seth’s specialty. Behavior modification, including impulse control, reactivity and aggression, is built into the Platinum and VIP programs. Start with the free phone assessment so Seth can hear what’s happening and recommend the right length.
Do you offer pick-up and drop-off?
Yes. The $250 transportation service picks your dog up from home, returns them when the program is complete, and includes the first lesson in your home. Transport home is already included in the VIP program.
Which areas do you serve?
Houston, Cypress, The Woodlands, Tomball, Katy, Spring, Montgomery, Hockley and surrounding areas. The training home is in Cypress, northwest Houston. Families also drive in from further out for board and train.
What if my dog only needs a refresher?
The 1-Week Silver Foundation Program is a short-term introduction focused on basic structure and foundational obedience. Seth will tell you on the free call if it’s the right fit, or if your dog needs the time and repetition of a longer program.
What training methods do you use?
A balanced approach: clear communication, rewards for the behavior we want, and fair, consistent boundaries for the behavior we don’t. Every dog gets a customized plan. The VIP program includes a Mini-Educator e-collar for reliable off-leash communication; Seth explains exactly how tools are introduced and used on your free call.
Do you train all breeds?
Yes. From working dogs and high-drive breeds to family pets and doodles, Seth has trained dogs of every temperament and background. His farm upbringing training Quarter Horses gives him a particular feel for working and high-drive breeds.
How do I book?
Every program starts with a free phone assessment. Request it through the form, or call or text 281-318-1296. Seth listens, asks questions, and recommends the right program. Spots are limited because only a few dogs are in the home at once, so booking ahead is a good idea.
Will my dog forget the training when they come home?
Not if you follow through. The go-home session shows you exactly how to keep the structure, and the follow-up lessons make sure it sticks. With consistency the results don’t fade, they keep improving.
Do you offer boarding for graduates?
Yes. Returning clients can board their dog with Seth, and he runs training refreshers during the stay so the skills stay sharp. Ask about availability when you book.
Choosing a program
How do I choose between Gold and Platinum?
Gold (2 weeks) builds a strong foundation: leash manners, sit/stay, place/stay, door boundaries and better impulse control. Platinum (3 weeks) adds down/stay, the structured heel, field trips into public places and behavior modification for reactivity or aggression, plus unlimited private lessons afterwards. If the problem shows up around other dogs, people or distractions, Platinum is the answer.
What should I bring for a board and train?
Your dog’s regular food (enough for the stay, plus a little extra), any medications with instructions, current vaccination records, and a collar with ID. Seth will confirm the full list and answer anything specific to your dog when you book.
Behavior work
Can private lessons handle reactivity or aggression?
Private lessons can address reactivity and anxiety and are ideal for coaching you as a handler. For serious reactivity or aggression, the daily repetition of a Platinum or VIP board and train produces the most reliable change, followed by lessons to transfer it to you.
Puppies and private lessons
How old does my puppy need to be?
The Puppy Development Bundle is designed for puppies under 4 months old. Older puppies usually do best in a board and train program. If you’re not sure, the free call is the fastest way to find out.
Where do private lessons happen?
At the Cypress facility ($160 per session) for focused learning without distractions, or in your home ($220 per session) so the training is practical in your dog’s everyday environment.
